Most wanted PKK member killed in anti-terror op
Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has announced that one of the most senior PKK terrorists, so-called top-ranking PKK member in the country and wanted in the red category, was killed alongside six other terrorists in the southeastern province of Şırnak in an anti-terror operation.
In the operation carried out by the provincial Gendarmerie Command, seven terrorists were "neutralized."

Highest temperature recorded as 47.9 in 2022
The hottest day in Türkiye in 2022 was on July 15 in the southeastern province of Şırnak's Silopi district at 47.9 degrees, the Turkish State Meteorological Service has said in its latest report.
The bureau published a report indicating meteorological extreme values of the province and districts in 2022.

Weather bureau issues ‘yellow alert’ for 18 provinces
As a cold spell takes its toll in the country, the Turkish State Meteorological Service has issued a "yellow alert" for 18 of Türkiye's 81 provinces, with the Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia regions likely to witness sleet and occasional snowfall the coming weekend.
Another senior PKK member killed in northern Iraq by MİT
The Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MİT) has neutralized another senior PKK terrorist in northern Iraq, Demirören News Agency has reported.
"Bedirhan Abi, codenamed 'Darav Gevda' has been killed in Sinjar," the agency wrote on Sept. 4.
Gabar to be cleaned of terror as of 2023: Minister
Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has said the eastern province of Şırnak's Mt. Gabar and Mt. Cudi, where the PKK is stationed, will be cleaned of terror as of 2023, noting that many others have been cleared of terrorists so far.

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) chair Devlet Bahçeli criticized the main opposition leader's visit to southeastern Şırnak province last week, saying that the move was aimed at provocation.
Şırnak to host first international tennis cup
With the participation of some 150 athletes from 15 countries, the eastern province of Şırnak, once associated with terror, is now preparing to host its first international tennis tournament, the country's sports and youth minister has said.
"The noise of the tennis rackets will echo on the foot of Mount Cudi," Mehmet Kasapoğlu told the Daily Milliyet.
