The Petrohan Pass is closed due to fallen stones on the road. The traffic on the road Sofia - Montana in the section Barzia - Gintsi, at km 59 is temporarily limited due to the fallen rock mass and flooded road section. The traffic is regulated by the Traffic Police, only vehicles moving to Montana are allowed, and traffic to Sofia is diverted.

Three municipalities in Smolyan district are in a state of emergency due to cut roads due to rivers overflowing their banks. These are Rudozem, Nedelino and Borino. A partial state of emergency has also been declared for the Devin village of Trigrad.

Traffic on the Hemus highway in the direction of Sofia is temporarily restricted for all cars and trucks after the snow has fallen due to the need for cleaning.

Wearing a protective mask or scarves will be mandatory only in public transport, and in other indoor public places, such as shops or theaters - only recommended. This was announced by the Minister of Health Kiril Ananiev at a press conference, where he gave details about the extension of the emergency epidemic situation until the end of June.

Today, February 4, the educational process in 2124 schools and nine kindergartens in 19 districts of the country has been suspended, the Ministry of Education and Science announced.

The National Folklore Fair "Rozhen 2019" began on July 19. This year it will run until July 21, reports BNT. 

More than 3,500 folklore artists and 80 craftsmen will present their folk dances, songs and artistic works until Sunday on the meadows of Rozhen.

In April, experts from the Emergency Response Group with the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water (RIEW) in Smolyan responded to 12 reports for damages caused by brown bears, said the RIEW's press office.

Snow tyres are mandatory to drive through Prevala and Pamporovo.

Flu epidemic is declared for the territory of Smolyan district, South Bulgaria as of 18th of January. The number of flu cases reached 253 per 10,000.The threshold for epidemic levels is 220 people per 10,000, reports BNT. 

Visits in hospitals, prophylactic immunizations, consultations for children and pregnant women are suspended.

The Arctic storm which has hit Europe descended on Romania and Bulgaria, leading to school closures and disrupting rail traffic, while thousands of emergency workers were mobilized, ABC News reported.
