Top gov’t nat’l security council on Tues. to broach border security

Members of the government's national security council will convene on Tuesday at the Maximos Mansion to discuss border security, especially along the Evros (Maritsa) River, which separates Greece and Turkey in the northeast Thrace province.

Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis will chair the session. On Monday, the Greek premier paid an official visit to Qatar.

Construction of Çanakkale Bridge gains momentum

Construction of a key bridge in northwestern Turkey connecting Europe and Asia has picked up speed with the completion of a temporary road, according to information received by Anadolu Agency. 

Upon its completion, the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge will become the world's longest mid-span suspension bridge with its unique structural characteristics, colors and other features.

Archaeologists from the Deultum-Debelt National Archaeological Reserve near Bulgaria's Burgas have discovered the first written evidence that the Roman colony Deultum had a port, BGNES reported.

The inscription was found on limestone sarcophagus, dating from the II-III century AD.

Around BGN 200 000 were Stolen from an ATM in Plovdiv

200 thousands leva were stolen from an ATM in the region of Thrace district in Plovdiv a few days ago. This was announced by the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Plovdiv, which monitors the pre-trial proceedings.

The money was taken through the demolition of barriers that were firmly made to protect property owned by a bank.

Pseudo-mufti wants … referendum to prove number of … ‘Turks’ in Thrace

A pseudo mufti in the northeast province of Thrace wants a … referendum. And not just any referendum, but one to show people and other countries, as he maintained, “who and how many Turks there are in western Thrace.”

The statement belongs to one Ahmet Mete, who used the “referendum” idea to prove, as he claimed, that “150,000 Turks” live in the northeast Greek province.
