A virologist from the Austrian province of Tyrol, Dorothee von Lar, said that the presence of a new, omicron strain of coronavirus had been confirmed in Austria. Von Lar told ORF that the new strain, which some scientists say is the worst, was proven by sequencing and that, in addition to the first case, there is a suspicion of infection with the same strain in 30 people.

Ljubljana – The government has changed the list of countries and territories placed in the red zone in terms of the Covid-19 epidemic to exclude, among others, the Croatian Adriatic area, Germany and the Czech Republic. Germany is extending strict checks on its borders with the Czech Republic and Austria's Tyrol province until March 3.

The hotly-disputed legislation is "one of Europe's toughest asylum laws", according to AFP.

VIENNA - The government of the Austrian state of Tyrol has decided to join the aid efforts for the victims of the floods in Southeastern Europe.

Tyrol President Guenther Platter said after a meeting of the government that Tyrol would provide EUR 150,000 as aid for the flooded areas in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia.
