Some 10,771 incidents of violence against healthcare workers were reported in Turkey in 2016, the Health Ministry has announced following an MP's inquiry, daily Birgün reported on June 19.

One Turkish soldier was killed and another was wounded in an attack by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the southeastern province Diyarbakır on June 19, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

A wall that has been built on Turkey's border with Syria has changed the lives of many villagers in the area, with many of them describing drastic differences in their daily lives after the construction of the wall. 

The authorities say the construction of a 700-kilometer wall on the Syrian border aims to block terrorist infiltration and prevent illegal entry and exit from Turkey. 

A lawmaker from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has lost her seat in parliament due to her lack of attendance.

Tuğba Hezer Öztürk, an HDP lawmaker from the eastern province of Van, was stripped of her parliamentary seat on June 14 after not attending talks in parliament for nearly a year.

A village guard injured during an attack by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on June 11 in the southeastern province of Şırnak has succumbed to his injuries in hospital, Doğan News Agency has reported.

A total of 1,068 militants from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) have been killed in the last nine months, according to Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu.

Some 48 militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) were "neutralized" in a series of operations last week, according to a statement released by Turkey's Interior Ministry on June 5, while military airstrikes destroyed two PKK shelters and one ammunition depot in northern Iraq late on June 4. 

Two outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants were killed in the southeastern province of Şırnak on June 2. 

According to a statement released from Şırnak Governor's Office, security forces carried out an operation in the province's Uludere district and killed two militants. 

A prominent major general who has played an important role in the struggle against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) was killed in a helicopter crash in the Şenoba district of the southeastern province of Şırnak. 

A total of 54 outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants were "neutralized" in security forces operations across Turkey over the past week, the Interior Ministry stated on May 29.

Authorities use the word "neutralized" in their statements to imply the militants in question were either killed, wounded or captured.
