Six soldiers, a police officer and a village guard have been killed in four separate clashes with outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the provinces of Van, Hakkari, Ağrı and Şırnak, media reports said on May 25.

It was the night of May 4 when 7-year-old Muhammet and his 6-year-old brother, Furkan Yıldırım, went to bed at home when death caught them. The room they were sleeping in was smashed into by an armored police vehicle that went out of control. 

The police officer who killed two children in the Silopi district of the southeastern province of Şırnak with his armored car did not know how to operate the vehicle, according to a report prepared by the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), daily Cumhuriyet reported May 22. 

Turkish anti-terror teams continued operations against four outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the northeastern province of Trabzon's Maçka district on May 18, after the militants killed a specialized sergeant on May 16 during a previous operation.

A Russian-made air defense missile has been seized by Turkish security forces during ongoing operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the southeastern province of Şırnak, the Interior Ministry announced on May 10.      

A local court in the southeastern province of Şırnak on May 9 ordered the arrest of an officer who crashed an armored vehicle into a house in the province's Silopi district, causing the death of two children while they were sleeping, Doğan News Agency has reported.

The governor's office in the southeastern province of Şırnak has said the police officers who caused the death of two children by an accident in the Silopi district were not intoxicated, refuting claims of the residents of the area. 

Two children were killed after a police vehicle crashed into a house in the Silopi district of the southeastern province of Şırnak late on May 3. 

The tragic incident occurred while the children were asleep, as the armored police vehicle crashed into the house, Doğan News Agency reported on May 4.

Five Turkish soldiers were killed and four others were wounded on April 25 due to attacks by militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the eastern and southeastern provinces of Kars, Bitlis and Şırnak, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
