Peristeri shocks Panathinaikos in Basket League

Peristeri upset Panathinaikos for a second year in a row, shattering its unbeaten record in the Basket League and showing it is the favorite for finishing second in the regular season.

The excruciating schedule of the Euroleague, that had Panathinaikos face Barcelona last Friday, and then host Fenerbahce this Tuesday before traveling to Israel to play Maccabi on Thursday.

Aris has dropped to the bottom of the Basket League table

Historic Aris is left alone at the bottom of the Basket League after a 26-point loss at Ifaistos on Saturday, while Promitheas suffered a shock defeat at Rethymno.

Aris was for more than a decade the undisputed king of Greek basketball, in the 1980s and early 1990s, but their recent financial problems have deprived Thessaloniki's Yellows of much of their strength.

Pitino wins first league title in Europe with Panathinaikos

Panathinaikos won its third consecutive and 38th overall league title on Friday, sweeping proud finalist Promitheas Patras with a 111-77 result at the Olympic Sports Hall and a 3-0 score in the best-of-five finals. Having also beaten PAOK in the final in February, the Greens completed yet another domestic double.
