An airstrike in Sudan's capital Khartoum on Saturday killed at least 17 people, including five children, health officials said, as fighting continued between rival generals seeking to control the country.

Air raids, gunfire and explosions rocked Sudan's capital on Sunday ahead of a one-week ceasefire agreed by rival generals, the latest in a series of truces that have been systematically violated.

As British Foreign Minister James Cleverly said today to Sky News television, after the cease-fire, Great Britain cannot guarantee that an evacuation will be possible, Reuters reported.

Fighting continues in Sudan between the army and the influential Rapid Support Forces paramilitary formation.

Nearly 100 people were killed and about 1,100 were injured. Both sides claim to hold key areas of the capital, Khartoum. A 3-hour ceasefire was agreed yesterday to allow the casualties to be evacuated.
