Erdoğan meets Algerian President Tebboune

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria at Dolmabahçe Office in İstanbul on July 22. 

rdoğan welcomed President Tebboune of Algeria, who is in İstanbul for a working visit at his invitation, with a ceremony. Afterwards, the two leaders proceeded to their bilateral meeting.

Italy’s Eni pens new Algerian gas deal

Italian energy giant Eni signed a memorandum of understanding on May 26 with Algeria's Sonatrach to boost gas exploration in the north African nation, as Rome seeks to reduce its reliance on Russia.

It was penned during a state visit by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Rome, a few weeks after Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi made his own trip to Algiers.

Turkish, Algerian presidents discuss developments in Tunisia on phone

Turkey's president and his Algerian counterpart spoke on the phone on July 30, according to a statement by Turkey's Communications Directorate.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Algeria's Abdelmadjid Tebboune discussed regional matters, especially Turkish-Algerian relations and developments in Tunisia, said the directorate statement.

Dendias in Algeria to discuss Libya crisis

Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias is visiting Algeria on Thursday to meet with counterpart Sabri Boukadoum, the ministry said in a press release.

Talks are expected to focus on bilateral relations as well as on issues of regional and international interest including the situation in Libya.

The meeting will be followed by statements to the press and a working lunch.
