Total economic turnover surges in January
The total turnover of Turkey's economy jumped 20.5 percent year-on-year in January, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced on March 13.
Significant annual rises in the turnover indices in the industry, trade, and service sectors offset a fall in the construction sector, according to TÜİK data.

Forensic doctors advisory body recommends avoiding autopsies in coronavirus cases
Autopsies in cases where death was caused by the new coronavirus should be avoided, the Hellenic Society of Forensic Medicine (HSFM) recommended on Thursday following the first death recorded in Greece of the pandemic.
In cases of confirmed infection, HSFM said, the death certificate should be issued without an autopsy, while cases of suspected infection should be tested after death.
EU commissioner says new asylum regulations to be ready after Easter

The measure was announced by Health Minister Vasilis Kikilias and signals that the state is prepared to take radical measures to curb the spread of the potentially deadly coronavirus.

Operational coordination centre set up to deal with risks related to coronavirus infection
A coordination centre became operational on Tuesday morning to keep in touch with the public health departments and the healthcare facilities under the authority of the Health Ministry for real-time identification of the risks related to coronavirus infection and establishing required measures.
Unemployment rate at 13.7 pct in December 2019
Turkey's unemployment rate in December 2019 stood at 13.7 percent, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) revealed on March 10.
The figure was marginally up from the same month of the previous year, rising 0.2 percentage point, TÜİK said in a statement.

Man found dead in sea off Corinth Canal
The Coast Guard found the body of a man floating in the sea off the Corinth Canal on Thursday evening, the authority said on Friday.
The body of the 25-year-old Greek national was transferred to Corinth's General Hospital unconscious, where he was pronounced dead.
