Over 20 mln students return to school as new semester begins
More than 20 million students across Türkiye returned to their classrooms today as the two-week winter break concluded, marking the beginning of the second semester of the 2023-2024 academic year.
The Education Ministry reported that 20,481,000 students and 1,178,000 teachers affiliated with the schools under the ministry had started their classes on September 11, 2023.
Midterm break kicks off for 20 mln students
The eagerly awaited midterm break begins today for approximately 20 million students and 1.2 million teachers in schools affiliated with the Education Ministry.
The break is marked by the distribution of report cards, which, for some students, will bring joy to their families with commendation and appreciation certificates.

School holidays change again: Here's how next school year's curriculum will look like
According to the new school curriculum, instead of the autumn break, primary school students will have an extended weekend lasting three days, while high school students will have a winter vacation seven days shorter than elementary school students.
Over 18 million students go on short break
A short mid-term break for more than 18 million students and over 1 million teachers in Turkey began on April 8.
Classes will resume on April 15.
Four months ago, students went onto a two-week winter break after completing their first semester and receiving their mid-term report cards on Jan. 21.

A decision on the extension of school break reached
Based on that, non-working days for students will be on February 17 and 18.
The proposal to extend the holidays was presented at the meeting of the School Team.
