Five months after floods, Thessaly awaits recovery
While the news focus is firmly on the farmers' protests across Greece, attention on the dire situation in one region, in Thessaly, has somewhat faded, except for the locals, who are still awaiting a recovery plan five months after the disastrous floods that destroyed many properties, killed livestock and eroded the soil.

Missing farmer in western Greece crushed by tractor
A 65-year-old farmer missing since Wednesday in western Greece was found dead on Thursday, crushed by his tractor, state-run broadcaster ERT reported.
Acheloos River’s partial diversion back on cards
The Environment Ministry is to resurrect the plan for the partial diversion of Acheloos River in Epirus, western Greece, the implementation of which has been annulled five times by the Council of State.
The project will be included in the water management plan of Thessaly and deemed as necessary to cover part of the water deficit.

Acceleration of works in Acheloos river basin
With the fast track negotiation process, and without prior publication, the project concerning the constructions for the security of the existing unfinished infrastructure to the diversion projects of Acheloos as well as the implementation of a monitoring plan for the safety of the unfinished projects of the Sykia Dam was contracted out.

River diversion project gets green light to go ahead
A contentious project aimed at diverting Greece's second-longest river, the Acheloos, from western Greece to the heavily farmed Plain of Thessaly, will go ahead after all, it was decided on Saturday following a meeting of State Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis and the head of Parliament's public administration committee Maximos Harakopoulos.
