Officer charged over deadly shooting of two women
A policeman who is accused of shooting and killing his estranged wife and her colleague on Wednesday afternoon outside a super market in northern Athens was charged with intensional manslaughter and illegal use of a firearm on Thursday.

Three arrested after burglary call in Athenian suburb
Three Roma men were arrested on Tuesday by police after a car chase on Kifissias Avenue from the northern suburb of Maroussi to Kifissia.
Nearly 70 wildfires reported in 24 hours
Beachgoers watch a firefighting helicopter scoop up water from the sea at the coastal resort of Loutraki, near Corinth, on Tuesday. A wildfire that started on Saturday on the area's Mount Geraneia and burned through hundreds of hectares of brush and trees over the weekend and on Monday, experienced fresh conflagrations Tuesday, which, however, were quickly doused.

Murder suspect extradited to Greece
A 30-year-old man wanted in connection with the murder of a Greek businessman in Athens in April last year was extradited to Greece from Belgium.
Greek authorities had issued a European arrest warrant for the suspect, charging him of murder, robberies, thefts, being a member of a criminal gang and other crimes. He was arrested in Belgium in February.

Traffic disruptions on central Kifissias Avenue
Traffic will be diverted on parts of Kifissias Avenue, one of the capital's main thoroughfares, from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. until June 13 due to works, which began on Monday, for the installation of a fiber optics network.
Traffic will flow normally on May 31 and June 2.
There will also be traffic disruption in the wider area of Kifissia in northern Athens for the same reason.

The 65th annual Kifissia Flower Show is under way in the leafy northern Athenian suburb, inviting residents of the Greek capital to spruce up their balconies and gardens, exchange ideas with growers and aficionados, and ask for advice and tips. The municipal event, which dates back to 1937, takes place in the park stretching between the Kifissia ISAP train station and the bus terminus.

Gang behind murder of businessman is identified
The Greek Police announced on Wednesday that it has identified the men who murdered 52-year-old businessman Alexandros Stamatiadis in April last year.
The men are members of a criminal gang that has carried out an estimated 55 robberies and burglaries in Attica, the Peloponnese and central Greece.

Syrian refugees come in aid of Attica fire victims
A year after they were rescued by aid workers off Greece's Aegean islands as they fled war in Syria, Saddam, Yusef, Osama and Idris found themselves in a reverse situation: Helping Greeks who suffered losses in last month's deadly wildfires in Attica's Mati and Kineta get back on their feet.
