Strikes, anti-austerity rallies held across Greece
A nationwide strike in Greece against spending cuts disrupted public transport, state-run schools, ferries and national rail services Thursday, and left public hospitals running with emergency staff.
More than 7,000 demonstrators marched in three separate demonstrations in the capital to protest against cost cuts the government is taking to satisfy its bailout creditors.

Minister: Sit-ins by the few are undemocratic
Deputy Education Minister Dimitris Baxevanakis told Parliament Friday that the "small minority of students" conducting sit-ins at schools across the country must no longer be tolerated and no longer be "told what they want to hear."

Israeli President thanks Erdoğan for help in firefighting
A strong wind whipped up forest and bush fires across Israel and the West Bank on Nov. 24, causing the worst rash of fires since 2010 when the country suffered the single deadliest wildfire in history.
Turkey had proposed to offer aid by sending firefighting aircraft to Israel, which Israel accepted.

Police detain students and parents at school sit-ins
Police early on Friday raided the grounds of two secondary schools in Lamia where pupils had been holding sit-ins in protest at cutbacks and poor infrastructure.
Officers who entered the school grounds with a prosecutor detained 11 people following the raids.
Students occupy Aristotle University rectorate
A group of 50 students were conducting a sit-in at the Aristotle University's rectorate on Thursday, authorities reported. The students, all allegedly members of the Students Struggle Front, were demanding the withdrawal of a 105 euro guarantee required for the rental of student rooms on campus.
