Most expensive airline ticket sold at 33,000 Turkish Liras last year
The most expensive roundtrip and one-way airline tickets for international flights were sold at 33,000 Turkish Liras and 28,000 liras, respectively in 2021, a report has shown.
Air travel gained momentum last year after countries and carriers eased most of COVID-19-related measures, said Turna.com, an online ticket sales company in its 2021 Travel Report.
Magnitude 5.1 earthquake strikes Mediterranean Sea
A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck in the Mediterranean Sea off Cyprus on Feb. 3, Turkey's disaster management agency AFAD reported.
The quake took place at 00:03 a.m. local time (2103 GMT) about 136 kilometers (84.5 miles) off Antalya province, according to AFAD.
It occurred at a depth of 13.20 kilometers (8.20 miles) below the surface, it added.

Southern provinces record sharp rise in new virus cases
Turkey's southern provinces have recorded the sharpest increase in weekly COVID-19 cases, data given by a top senior official has shown.

Man arrested for setting wildfires ‘due to anger toward family’
Security units have detained a 21-year-old young man who admitted having started wildfires in the southern province of Adana following an outburst of anger against his parents.
"I left home after an argument with my parents. I live on the streets. I started fires due to anger against them," Ali K. said in his first testimony after getting caught.

The ancient city of Uzuncaburç in the southern province of Mersin, which is home to Hellenistic-era structures, offers finds that will shed light on history.

Golden Boll Film Festival to be held in September
Turkey's International Golden Boll Film Festival will be held in the southern Adana province on Sept. 13-19, organizers said on Aug. 24.

Zeydan Karalar, the mayor of Adana, who will organize the festival, said in a statement that one of Turkey's most prestigious cinematic events, the 28th edition of the festival will be held with COVID-19 measures in place.
