Power transmission company employee electrocuted while cutting branches

An employee of power transmission operator ADMIE has been hospitalized after being electrocuted while cutting branches near power lines in the northwestern region of Florina.

State broadcaster ERT said the accident happened after a branch fell on a high voltage cable.

‘Hidden’ hikes in power bills

The price of electricity per kilowatt-hour may have been decreasing continuously in recent months following the de-escalation of the price of natural gas, but the total electricity bill still happens to have increased and is even expected to increase further in the coming months.

The RES expansion headache

For the first time ever, the Greek grid last Sunday recorded an electricity price of zero euros for six consecutive hours, being reminiscent of grids in northern European countries with a high penetration of renewable energy.

Off-peak rates between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.

The summer schedule for lower household electricity tariffs at off-peak times will take effect from Monday, May 1, and will last until October 31, the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator SA (ADMIE) announced on Thursday.

The summer schedule for the residential night-time tariff provides reduced rates between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
