Non-Muslim students' grades 'miscalculated' in nationwide exam
The grades of a nationwide high school entrance exam will be recalculated for 371 non-Muslim students who were exempted from questions on the Islamic faith, as their scores on the religion section of the exam were calculated as zero, which lowered their overall grade, Turkish Education Ministry sources told daily Hürriyet on June 30.
Academic year ends for over 17 million students
More than 17 million Turkish students have begun a three-month vacation, as the academic year for pre-college level educational institutions ended on June 12.
A total of 17,559,989 students have received their report cards for the end of the academic year. The upcoming academic year for elementary, middle and high schools will begin on Sept. 14.

Guidance classes in Turkish schools to introduce professions from a gender-based perspective
The curriculum of the guidance and career planning classes in secondary schools has been renewed in a gender discriminative manner, daily Cumhuriyet has reported.
The revised program for the guidance and career planning classes states that students should be told of social gender roles and guided to make their choices accordingly.

Education Ministry says almost 180,000 tertiary students 'stagnant'
A total of 178,458 people have failed to complete their tertiary education studies but are still registered as students, the Education Ministry said on Friday.
According to the ministry, 139,175 students are registered at the countrys universities. Of these, 129,008 are to be immediately scrubbed from the registers.
Bulgarian High School Graduates Eye Foreign Universities
One-third of Bulgarian high school graduates with top marks at the closing exams would prefer to study at foreign universities, Novinite.bg has reported.
According to Education Ministry data, more than 12,000 Bulgarian high-school graduates coming mostly from top-notch schools in the country would begin university studies abroad next year.
