Business owners seeking to extend the payment of their bills of exchange by 75 days will have to tell their bank by Tuesday which of their checks need to be protected, Development Minister Adonis Georgiadis told Skai TV on Saturday.

The government intends on Wednesday to discuss with its creditors the prospect of extending the protection scheme for the primary residences of indebted borrowers, which expires on April 30, Development Minister Adonis Georgiadis told Skai TV on Saturday.

The government directions issued for open-air markets have so far been adhered to by 95 percent, said Development Minister Adonis Georgiadis on Skai TV on Saturday.

A comprehensive package of measures to protect the economy from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic is to be unveiled on Monday by Finance Minister Christos Staikouras, Development and Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis and Labor and Social Affairs Minister Yiannis Vroutsis. 

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Greece has exceeded 1,000, according to the latest government briefing.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis travels to Berlin to participate in the Greek-German Business Forum and to meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. He will be accompanied by Development and Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis and five deputy ministers.

The funding to come from US state investment bank DFC may have been approved by the US Congress just a few weeks ago, in end-2019, but Greece has already come onto the investment radar of the American giant, which commands funds of $60 billion.

Concerns mounted Tuesday about the potential repercussions of the coronavirus (Covid-19) on Greece's economy and particularly on the tourism sector amid reports of cancellations by foreign visitors.
