Romanian film director Jude to be honoured at 49th edition of La Rochelle Cinema Festival

Romanian film director and screenwriter Radu Jude will be honoured at the La Rochelle Cinema (FEMA)Festival, which will take place June 25-July 4. At the 49th edition of the event in France, Jude will be honoured alongside French filmmaker Xavier Beauvois, Lebanese filmmakers Joanna Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige, and French composer Gabriel Yared.

The newest feature-film signed by director Radu Jude, "Babardeala cu bucluc sau porno balamuc" was included in the final competition of the 71st edition of the Berlin International Film Festival. According to a press release sent by RollerCoaster sent to AGERPRES, the movie will have its world premiere at the Berlinale.

The films "Aferim!" directed by Radu Jude; "Despre oameni si melci" (Of Snails and Men) by Tudor Giurgiu and "Dupa dealuri" (Over the Hills) by Cristian Mungiu are some of the films that have been specially adjusted to be projected in the first edition of Romania's National Film Festival for the Visually Impaired, May 15-19.

Radu Jude, about "Aferim!": We could have just as well done it as a colour or sepia film

I believe that this film would have functioned pretty much of the same manner if we did it as a colour or sepia film, instead of making it black&white, film director Radu Jude said after the first premiere dedicated to the critics and media of his "Aferim!" film, for which he received the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlin Film Festival.

"If I knew I would win such a prize, I would have been more serious when shooting it," Radu Jude said on the Berlinale stage.
