The Taliban are due to form a government within days despite fighting in Afghanistan's Panjshir Valley where forces battling the hardline Islamists say they are enduring "heavy" assaults.

Fighting between Afghanistan's resistance forces and the militants of the Taliban radical movement (outlawed in Russia) is raging on in various regions of the Panjshir, Parwan, and Baghlan Provinces, the Ashwaka news agency reported on Wednesday, citing sources. 

"But we finally got here and now I feel happy and optimistic about our short stay here, until we get to the United States," he added.

Wearing jeans and a white shirt, Ahmad says he spent his whole life with the conflict in Afghanistan, but did not think about leaving and was happy with his job.

Turkey is ready to lend all kinds of support for Afghanistan's unity but will follow a very cautious path, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said, reiterating it will first wait to see what sort of an administration the Taliban would establish to run this country with 40 million population.

As many as 104 more Turkish nationals were flown out from Afghanistan's capital in a C-130 transport aircraft of the Turkish Air Force on Aug. 20.

Efforts to evacuate Turkish citizens from the war-torn country continue at the Hamid Karzai International Airport, and the citizens were rescued by Turkish security forces from areas in central Kabul.

This happened, as Jutarnji list states, as part of the action of "cleansing" Kabul and other occupied cities and provinces, in which the Taliban go "door to door" in search of their previous political opponents.

The Taliban are going house-to-house searching for opponents and their families, according to an intelligence document for the U.N. that deepened fears on Aug. 20 Afghanistan's new rulers were reneging on pledges of tolerance.

The U.K.'s foreign secretary praised Turkey late on Aug. 19 for helping to secure Kabul airport and said the British and Turkish governments are working closely to ensure that evacuations of their citizens as well as Afghan nationals continue safely.

Anti-Taliban leader Ahmad Massoud called on his troops to take up arms and claimed to be ready with the return of the Taliban.

Massoud also insisted on following in the footsteps of his father, Ahmad Shah Massoud, who was an anti-Taliban leader and was assassinated by Al-Qaeda nearly 20 years ago.
