Police arrest two following attacks on riot units

Police said on Saturday morning that they had arrested two individuals, aged 32 and 24, in connection with a series of Molotov cocktails attacks against riot police units in the wider Exarchia area in central Athens shortly after midnight on Friday.
According to reports, police responded to the attacks launched by a group of hooded individuals with tear gas.

Bahrain summons Iraqi ambassador to protest VP remarks on executions

Bahrain's Foreign Ministry summoned Iraq's ambassador in Manama to protest against remarks by Iraqi officials denouncing the execution of men convicted of a 2014 bomb attack, state news agency BNA said on Jan. 16, Reuters reported. 

The execution on Jan. 15 of three men, whose attack killed three policemen, has drawn condemnation from rights groups. Iran called it a "reckless" act. 

Six arrested as police, protesters clash in Athens

Six people were arrested late Tuesday as Greek police clashed with demonstrators protesting a visit by US President Barack Obama, in central Athens.

Riot police fired tear gas and stun grenades at protesters demonstrating just a few kilometers from the presidential mansion where Greek officials were hosting an official dinner for the American leader.
