Aftermath of the Bahraini uprising

The Municipality of the Dodecanese island of Rhodes on Wednesday announced the launch of a direct flight between Rhodes and the Middle Eastern country of Bahrain.

The flight will be operated by Bahrain's national carrier, Gulf Air.

Five police officers were arrested in Sofia for concealing crimes.

According to the National Radio, the policemen are from the Metropolitan Directorate of Internal Affairs and some of them work in the 2nd Regional Police Department.

Protesters clashed with riot police in Athens and Thessaloniki on Thursday during two marches to protest against a draft bill of the Education Ministry that will bring changes to tertiary education.

Climate protesters marched through Paris for a second day on Sept. 21 in a rally that saw sporadic clashes between masked demonstrators and police who also broke up "yellow vest" groups trying to stage unauthorised gatherings in the capital.

Two opposition leaders are among 14 people who face jail terms if found guilty of plotting to overthrow the government in 2016.

Police said on Saturday morning that they had arrested two individuals, aged 32 and 24, in connection with a series of Molotov cocktails attacks against riot police units in the wider Exarchia area in central Athens shortly after midnight on Friday.
According to reports, police responded to the attacks launched by a group of hooded individuals with tear gas.

Bahrain's Foreign Ministry summoned Iraq's ambassador in Manama to protest against remarks by Iraqi officials denouncing the execution of men convicted of a 2014 bomb attack, state news agency BNA said on Jan. 16, Reuters reported. 

The execution on Jan. 15 of three men, whose attack killed three policemen, has drawn condemnation from rights groups. Iran called it a "reckless" act. 

Six people were arrested late Tuesday as Greek police clashed with demonstrators protesting a visit by US President Barack Obama, in central Athens.

Riot police fired tear gas and stun grenades at protesters demonstrating just a few kilometers from the presidential mansion where Greek officials were hosting an official dinner for the American leader.

Violent episodes broke out at Syntagma square , when unknown individuals started throwing Molotov cocktails and police responding with tear gas.

Earlier clashes also recorded between protesters and the police at Klafthmonos Square, while one person was arrested.

Prime Minister of Kosovo Isa Mustafa has urged the opposition to renounce violence and return to the assembly.
