Croatia to Take Share of EU Refugee Burden

Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic on Thursday said his country is willing to accept a share of the 40,000 refugees, mainly from Syria and Eritrea, who recently arrived in Greece and Italy, which Brussels wants distributed round the EU.

Milanovic made the offer ahead of an EU summit dominated by migration issues and the Greek crisis.

Erdo?an: Western response to refugee crisis a 'crime against humanity'

President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has once again criticized western countries for their response to the global refugee crisis, describing it as a ?crime against humanity.?

?We now have over two million refugees; we could not have left them under the bombs,? Erdo?an said June 21 at a meeting in Istanbul. 

More than 3,700 migrants captured across Turkey in May

More than 3,700 migrants were captured across Turkey by security forces in just one month, according to unofficial data.

At least 3,737 migrants, including many Syrians, were captured by Turkish security forces en route to European countries. A majority of these migrants attempted to cross into Europe via the Aegean Sea and through borders in the northwestern provinces of Turkey.

Now that a razor-wire fence 1,5 meters thick is now extending along the Southern border with Turkey, Bulgarian officials reportedly believe that the measure is a safer and more effective way to deal with the increased refugee influx to the EU.
