UN needs $46.4 billion for aid in 'bleak' 2024

The United Nations said yesterday that it needed $46.4 billion next year to bring life-saving help to around 180 million people in desperate circumstances around the world.

The U.N. said the global humanitarian outlook for 2024 was "bleak," with conflicts, climate emergencies and collapsing economies "wreaking havoc" on the most vulnerable.

€86.4 mln given to flood victims, so far

Victims of the September floods which mostly hit the region of Thessaly have received €86.4 million in aid thus far, the Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministry announced Tuesday.

The sum includes €4.24 million disbursed Tuesday, the ministry added.

There are 22,458 aid recipients, individuals and businesses alike.

Bulgaria is sending New Military Aid to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

With the decisions of June 23, the Council of Ministers adopted a new package of military aid and military-technical assistance for Ukraine in the implementation of the decision of the National Assembly of December 9, 2022. This was reported by the government information service last night.

Eurostat: Nearly 1/3 of Bulgarians are at Risk of Poverty

In 2022, 95.3 million people in the European Union were at risk of poverty or social exclusion, i.e. they lived in households with serious financial difficulties. This is according to data from the Eurostat statistical office. They remain almost unchanged from the previous year, when 95.4 million people lived at risk of poverty.
