The State Will Give BGN 390 Million for Trolleybuses in 11 municipalities

BGN 390 million will be given for electrification of public transport in 11 municipalities. This was announced by the Minister of Environment and Water Neno Dimov at a briefing in the Council of Ministers. He added that the cabinet had adopted a national program for the protection of the ambient air quality 2018-2024.

Saharan Dust In The Air

According to data from the Greek meteorological office for several days the atmosphere over Bulgaria is saturated with dust from the deserts of North Africa, Nova TV reported. The cloud of fine sand covered Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece and other Balkan countries.

Air Pollution Exceedances in the Country Have Decreased by 60%

Over a period of about eight years, from 2011 to 2018, there is nearly 60% decrease of the air pollution exceed levels at the stations which monitor air cleanliness in the country. This was said by Minister of Environment and Water Neno Dimov during the official opening of the second edition of the European Conference on Air Quality - SOFAIR.

Some 10% of Sofia citizens do not use their cars in days with high levels of fine particulate matter, Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova said during the official opening of the second edition of the European Air Quality Conference - SOFAIR, Focus News Agency reports.
