Joint Security of Bulgarian Airspace by the Bulgarian and Spanish Air Forces Begins Tomorrow

The implementation of joint tasks on enhanced airspace protection (Air Policing) by the Bulgarian and Spanish Air Forces begins with an official ceremony on Thursday. This was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Defense.

Turkish, American fighter jets to carry out NATO air patrols

Turkish and US fighter jets have taken up NATO air policing duties this week to guard the skies over Poland and Iceland, a NATO spokesperson said on July 7. 

"We thank our Allies the United States and Turkey for contributing to NATO's air policing missions," Oana Lungescu said in a statement.

NATO jets intercept Russian aircraft over Black Sea

Romanian, Bulgarian and Turkish jets, all part of the NATO Air Policing, intercepted a Russian aircraft on May 19, which was flying close to the NATO air space, the Allied Command Operations (ACO) said.

According to a written statement by NATO Allied Air Command on May 21, the Alliance Quick Reacting Alert jets were dispatched to prevent Russia from entering the air space.

Montenegro will be Guarded by NATO and Greece Aircraft

Montenegrin Defense Minister Predrag Boskovic has confirmed that Italian and Greek fighters will take over the defense of Montenegro's airspace within NATO's Air Policing mission, reports Macedonian media NetPres quoted by Focus.

Boskovic specified that the agreement should be signed with the SMTPSA (Air Traffic Control Agency) of Serbia and Montenegro.

Greece and Italy to be "policing" Montenegrin sky

Montenegrin Defense Minister Predrag Boskovic has announced that the airspace of Montenegro will be controlled by NATO members Greece and Italy.

Boskovic told the Montenegro's state broadcaster RTCG that, with regard to airspace control, "the signing of an agreement is under way" with the Alliance and its members, Greece and Italy.
