Hellenic Army: LoR for OH-58D Kiowa Warrior and FOS signed for the Osa-AKM & TOR-M1 SAMs!

According to information from the Greek defence site ‘Defence-point.gr’ the Greek Ministry of Defence has sent a Letter of Request (LoR) to the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) for 70 retired OH-58D Kiowa Warrior armed reconnaissance helicopters of the US Army.

New additions and upgrade for Greek air force fleet

Greece is taking the first steps toward upgrading its existing F-16 fighter jets and purchasing, in due time, fifth-generation F-35 fighters.

The Defense Ministry revealed the news on Tuesday. Aides of Defense Minister Panos Kammenos said that the decision was taken in line with recommendations made by military chiefs.

The F-35A achieved a quite impressive score during Red Flag 17-1, the U.S. Air Force’s premier air combat exercise underway at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, that pits “Blue Air” (friendly forces) against “Red Air” (enemy) in an all-out air war featuring air-to-air, air-to-ground, search and rescue, and special forces elements.

Serbia to Receive Six MiG-29 Jets From Russia by May

BELGRADE - Russian specialists would help Belgrade modernize six aircraft to be received from Russia, as well as four fighter jets from the Serbian Air Force fleet, according to local media.

The Serbian Defense Ministry will receive six Mikoyan MiG-29 fighter jets from Russia before the end of April, Serbian media reported Sunday.

The Hellenic Air Force (HAF) 347 Sqn. celebrates its 40 years of active duty and it decorated one of its F-16s accordingly.
The 347 Sqn. was the first to use operate the A-7H Corsair in Greece, which has now been replaced with the F-16C/D Block 50. The Squadron is one of HAF’s most active ones and on a constant high alert.

The Greek website e-amyna.com has released a rare photo taken inside the 345 Bomber Sq. It shows A-7H Corsair pilots after the briefing of the real missions they were about to undertake in minute’s notice at the night of the Imia Crisis, 21 years ago to the day.
