Turkish Airlines marks 88th anniversary
Turkish Airlines on May 20 marked the 88th anniversary of its foundation.
Turkey's flag carrier started operating with a fleet of five aircraft and a seating capacity of 23 in 1933, according to a company statement.
Now the company flies to 127 countries with a modern fleet of 365 aircraft, it said.

Turkey's national flag carrier Turkish Airlines carried nearly 2.4 million passengers in April, according to a statement sent to Turkey's Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) on May 11.
Last month's figure was down 60 percent compared to the pre-pandemic period in April 2019, the airline data showed.

Turkey's flag carrier Turkish Airlines ranked first in Europe in terms of the daily number of flights between Feb. 8 and Feb. 15, according to data from the European Organization for Air Navigation Safety (Eurocontrol).
Turkish Airlines operated on average 592 flights a day in the said period, while Turkey's low-cost carrier Pegasus came in third in the list at 263 flights.
