Eurostat: Sofia Airport is on the 63nd Position Among the 150 Airports in the EU
Sofia Airport is 63rd in terms of number of passengers in 2017 from about 150 airports of EU countries, according to Eurostat data on today's 7th of December, which is marked as International Aviation Day.
Last year, around 6.5 million passengers passed through Sofia Airport, which is 30% more than in the previous 2016, according to European statistics.
EU 'wants' air traffic agreement with Turkey
The European Union has reiterated its willingness to ink a comprehensive aviation agreement with Turkey, particularly after the symbolic inauguration of the new Istanbul Airport, one of the largest airports on the European continent, suggesting it would bring in up to 5 billion euros in additional revenue for the facility.

Volotea flight makes emergency landing in Athens
A Spanish low cost airline Volotea plane flying from the Aegean island of Mykonos to Venice made an emergency landing in the Greek capital on Tuesday after the crew reported a problem with one of the engines, reports say.
The aircraft landed at Athens International Airport, early reports said without giving further details.

Air passenger traffic in Europe saw a slight rise of 4.8 percent in July, but some Turkish airports saw traffic spike as much as 18.3 percent, a European airport trade association said on Sept. 18, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
Arrivals at Greek airports rise 10 percent
