At least 4 Dead and Dozens Injured in an Explosion near the Turkish Border in Syria

A car bomb exploded in the city of Tell Abiad, Syria, near the border with Turkey. At least 4 people were killed and dozens were injured.

Following the blast, roads leading to and from the city were closed by local authorities, while the seriously injured were taken to a hospital in the nearby Turkish city of Akcakale.

No terrorist group has yet claimed responsibility.

Two US commanders hold meetings in Akçakale border town for Syria safe zone

USEUCOM's U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Stephen Twitty and USCENTCOM's U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas Bergeson on Sept. 11 visited the Turkey-U.S. joint operations center in the Akçakale district of the southeastern Şanlıurfa province established for the coordination of activities in the safe zone in northern Syria.

Police in Turkey's Şanlıurfa rescue kidnapped son of Syrian businessman

Police teams in the Akçakale district of the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa on Feb. 2 detained nine people over the kidnap of the four-year-old son of a Syrian businessman. 

Syrian businessman Kasim el Ali's son, Ismail el Ali, and his friend Mahir Fayed were kidnapped by a group of armed men while Fayed was taking el Ali's son to his house to play with his children.

PYD lowers 3 American flags at base in northern Syria

Three American flags were lowered on top of buildings under the control of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Tal Abyad town in northern Syria on Sept. 17, a local source in the region told Anadolu Agency.

The U.S. flags had emerged at the group's base in the area on Sept. 16, according to the source.

50 kilos of explosives found in Turkish border town

The Turkish gendarmerie has found four abandoned bags stuffed with 50 kilograms of plastic explosives in the southeastern district of Akçakale, which is across the border from Syria's Tal Abyad, which is under Democratic Union Party (PYD) rule.
