Fugitive vice-president Hashemi says Iraq violence part of a 'Sunni Arab revolt'
The violence in Iraq is part of a broader Sunni Arab revolt that could lead to a holy war in the country, and is not just a rampage by Islamist militants from an al-Qaeda splinter group, fugitive vice president Tarek al-Hashemi told Reuters on June 16.
Turkish Army denies Iraq arrested its officers
Turkish General Staff has denied claims that four Turkish officers, who were alleged to provide training to radical Islamist militants, were arrested by Iraq's security forces in the city of Fallujah.
In a written statement issued on June 14, the general staff called the claims "groundless" and "unreal."

Bombings targeting Kurds kill at least 17 in Iraq
A car bomb followed by a suicide bombing hit offices of a Kurdish political party and security forces in Iraq on June 8, killing 17 people, police and doctors said.
The blasts in the town of Jalawla, north of Baghdad, also wounded 50 people, the sources said.
