Many retired Germans spend winter in the southern province of Antalya's coastal districts to "save money," citing increasing natural gas prices in their country.
Kadıköy, Beşiktaş ‘most traveled places’
A taxi application has announced that the most traveled districts in Istanbul are Kadıköy and Ataşehir on the Anatolian side, and Beşiktaş and Şişli on the European side in 2022.
The highest number of trips took place around 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., while taxis were more preferred between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. on the weekends, according to BiTaksi's 2022 usage habits index.

Dispute between orthodox Russians, Ukrainians in Antalya
A new dispute has occurred between the Russian and Ukrainian patriarchs in the southern province of Antalya as the citizens of both countries living in the city do not want to share the same churches.
Antalya, which hosts many migrants from both countries fleeing the Russia-Ukraine war, has also become one of the meeting areas of divisions within the Orthodox church.
Alanya welcomes first cruise ship this year
The Alanya district of popular holiday destination Antalya has welcomed this season's first cruise ship.
The luxury liner Artania arrived at the Alanya port from the Limassol port in Greek Cyprus with 690 passengers, most of them German travelers, and 450 crew members on board on April 10. After spending the day in Antalya, the cruise ship set sail for Greece's Rhodes Island.

Mariners pause NATO drill, save Caretta Caretta
Turkish mariners serving at the mine hunter TCG Alanya ship, participating in a NATO military exercise in the Mediterranean Sea, paused a drill after noticing a Caretta Caretta in the fishlines.

The soldiers in the Turkish mine hunter realized a Caretta Caretta floundering over the sea and saw that it could not move due to the fishlines that trapped it.

Four tourist boats engulfed in flames
While Turkey's Mediterranean resorts have just emerged out of a massive wildfire disaster, four tourist sailing boats in Antalya's Alanya district caught fire, in which two of them burned to death.
A fire broke out late Aug. 15. on a boat named Mozi 07 that was anchored in an Alanya fisherman's shelter, spreading to three neighboring vessels.

NASA satellite captures devastating wildfires in Turkey
The U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has broadcast some satellite photos showing smoke rising from Turkey's south and southwest, which have been battling raging wildfires over the past week.
Massive forest fire engulfs Mediterranean district
A massive fire erupted in two different locations in the southern province of Antalya's Manavgat district has destroyed dozens of hectares of forest cover and caused the evacuation of five settlements.
