Rama pledges to stick to reforms in meeting with Mitsotakis

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama in Athens on Tuesday who said that despite the disappointing decision by the European Council to delay the start of EU accession talks for his country, Albania would continue implementing necessary reforms.

Bidding to defuse recent tensions, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras spoke on the phone with his Albanian counterpart Edi Rama on Thursday, in the wake of last week's bilateral crisis sparked by a call published in the Albanian government gazette for the seizure of properties belonging to members of the ethnic Greek minority in the town of Himara.

Athens wants clarification on Albanian ban on Greeks

Greece has urged Albania to abstain from actions that fuel tension in bilateral relations after the Foreign Ministry in Tirana labeled 52 Greek nationals personae non gratae and banned them from entering the Balkan country.

The 52 were among hundreds who attended the funeral on Thursday of an ethnic Greek who was fatally shot in a gun battle with Albanian police last month.
