The leader of the large Muslim community in North Macedonia, most of whom are ethnic Albanians, has been sacked for reasons that have not yet been divulged.

In a conversation with daily "Danas", he points out that Albanians from the Presevo Valley want to be an active participant in the talks on the status of Kosovo.

Police took him to court for violating public order and peace on Wednesday. Judge Katarina Vujacic Vuksanovic fined the employee of the Karadag construction company 300 euros.

The proposed new Law on the Use of National Symbols was submitted to the Montenegrin parliament on Friday after controversy caused by fines imposed on people for flying the Albanian flag.

A new draft law on citizenship adopted by the Albanian government, due to be approved by parliament, will allow Albanians living abroad to acquire Albanian citizenship more easily.

The only precondition would be to prove that their ancestors had Albanian citizenship.

Faik Nika, the president of the Albanian National Council, said on Friday that the Albanian government will give financial support for the first time to assist the running of his organisation and its office in the municipality of Plav.

Nika told Montenegrin media the Albanian government has recently made three very important decisions for the Albanian community in Montenegro.
