Fassianos studio on Kea opens to the public as a museum

The atelier of Greek painter Alekos Fassianos (1935-2022) on the island of Kea, which opened just once last year for an educational program for local children, will be open to all this year from July 15. The little house was Fassianos' "home" when he returned from rainy Paris. 'Slowly, my love for the sea made me settle in Kea, the beautiful island full of surprises,' he was quoted as saying.

Athens to open Maria Callas museum in 2023: city

A new museum honoring legendary soprano Maria Callas will open in Athens next year to honor the centenary of her birth, the city said on Oct. 26.

The museum, to open in the summer of 2023, will feature "valuable historical archives, rare live recordings, a unique collection of records and personal items" of Callas, said a statement.

The Society for Macedonian Studies presents 130 pieces by acclaimed artists including Spyros Vassiliou, Loukas Venetoulias, Konstantinos Maleas, Alekos Fassianos and others, dating from the mid-19th century to the present day, for a show celebrating its 80th anniversary. The pieces have been selected to illustrate how the northern port city inspired these artists.
