Romanian tennis players Patricia Tig, Ana Bogdan and Jaqueline Cristian managed to advance on Saturday to the last round of qualifications for the main draw of women's singles at the WTA tournament- Korea Open, in Seul (South Korea), with prizes worth 250,000 US dollars.

Romanian pairings Irina Begu/Raluca Olaru and Jaqueline Cristian/Gabriela Ruse on Wednesday advanced to quarter-finals of the women's doubles event of the 250,000-USD BRD Bucharest Open tennis tournament at the BNR Arenas in Bucharest. N.1 Begu-Olaru prevailed over Giorgia Marchetti (Italy)/Laura Pigossi (Brazil) 6-4 6-2 in 66 minutes.

Romanian Ana Bogdan (1st seed) won the 25,000-dollar ITF tennis tournament 'Idu Trophy Comvex' in Mamaia on Sunday; she won the final against fellow Romanian Cristina Dinu by 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-3.

Alexandra Cadantu defeated fellow Romanian Cristina Dinu 6-4, 6-7 (2), 6-3 on Sunday, in the final of the 25,000-dollar ITF tennis tournament in Galati.

Cadantu (25 years old, WTA No. 329) had not won an ITF singles title since 2011 ? the 100,000-dollar tournament of Biella.

Romania's pair Elena Bogdan and Alexandra Cadantu won the 250,000-dollars WTA BRD Bucharest Open doubles final on Sunday, after beating Cagla Buyukakcay (Turkey)/Karin Knapp (Italy) 6-4, 3-6, 10-5.

Premier Victor Ponta welcomed on Monday the organization of a WTA tournament in Bucharest and wished good luck to the competitors and especially the Romanian players.
