Sofia, Greece in Negotiations Over Railway Connection Between Bulgarian, Greek Ports
Bulgarian Minister of Transport Ivaylo Moskovski has said that on 6 September in Kavala, Greece, an intergovernmental memorandum will be signed between Bulgaria and Greece for a new railway connection between the Greek ports of Thessaloniki, Kavala and Alexandroupolis and the Bulgarian ports of Burgas and Varna on the Black Sea, and Ruse on the Dunabe River.

The Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (TAIPED) is preparing to hire advisers to explore the privatization of 10 port authorities in which it holds stakes.
Although the process relates to all 10 ports, sources suggest that the first to be sold will be that in Alexandroupoli as it has already attracted substantial interest domestically and internationally.
Two men, believed migrants, killed in Greece
Greek authorities say two people believed to be migrants who crossed the border from Turkey illegally have been killed after being hit by a passenger train in northeastern Greece.
Police said Monday the two were hit in the Evros border region Sunday night by a train traveling between the city of Alexandroupolis and Dikaia. Their nationalities were not immediately known.

Chinese ambassador: “China always had confidence in Greek economy”
China has always believed in the Greek economy and the country’s efforts to achieve a quick recovery, the Chinese Ambassador to Greece Zou Xiaoli said on Thursday, during a visit to Alexandroupolis.
“China has always had confidence in the Greek economy and your efforts to achieve a rapid recovery,” the ambassador said after his meeting with city mayor Vangelis Lambrakis.

Bulgarian Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski and Greek Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Networks Christos Spirtzis have agreed to extend the multimodal transport corridor between the two countries connecting the ports of Varna, Burgas, Kavala and Alexandroupoli, the ministry's press office announced, quoted by Focus News Agency.
Man arrested for stealing over 1,000 euros from unlocked car
A 43-year-old Mauritian national faced a prosecutor in Alexandroupoli, northeastern Greece, Tuesday after stealing 1,380 euros from an unlocked parked car. The owner of the vehicle, who had not left the car for long, returned to find the cash missing and telephoned the police.
Officers traced the 43-year-old shortly after the call and recovered the stolen money.
Two men convicted by Komotini court of being members of IS
A Swede and a Yemeni, aged 30 and 20, were sentenced to 15 years in prison Friday by a court in Komotini, northeastern Greece, that found them guilty of being members of so-called Islamic State.
