Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is to meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel Thursday in Brussels in a bid to secure a statement of political support from Berlin amid tough negotiations with creditors and dwindling finances.

Greece is hoping the agreement with Russia on the construction of the gas pipeline connecting Turkeish Stream and Central Europe will be signed very soon.

The statement was made by Greek Energy Minister Panagiotis Lafazanis after the meeting held in Athens between Greek PM Alexis Tsipras and Gazprom president Alexey Miller, TASS information agency reported.

Eurozone finance ministers will not set any deadline for Greece to come up with reforms to get more funding because such time limits lead to brinkmanship in negotiations, a senior eurozone official said on Tuesday.

The head of the Eurogroup said on Tuesday that he expects Athens and its creditors to strike a new deal in the coming weeks and that it was in the eurozone's interests that Greece remains in the currency bloc.

The US is pushing Greece and its creditors to reach a deal that returns the country to growth, President Barack Obama?s chief economist said.

Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller will meet with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Energy Minister Panagiotis Lafazanis in Athens on Tuesday.

They are due to discuss "current energy issues of interest," according to a media statement of the Energy Ministry, as cited by Reuters.
