Iran's Rouhani warns those using 'threatening language'

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned Feb. 10 that those using "threatening language" against Tehran would regret it as the regime faces increasingly hawkish rhetoric from the new U.S. administration.

Rouhani was speaking at a march attended by hundreds of thousands of people in the capital marking the 38th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic revolution.

A bitter war of words between Iran and Saudi Arabia intensified on Sept. 7 ahead of the annual hajj pilgrimage from which Iranians have been excluded for the first time in decades. Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei blasted the "incompetence" of the Saudi royal family as he met with the families of victims of a deadly stampede during last year's hajj.
