Justice Ministry ‘works for comprehensive changes in family law’

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç has announced that his ministry's ongoing comprehensive efforts on family law regulations will soon result in profound changes.

His ministry initiated efforts to address several issues causing citizens' grievances in family law, particularly divorce, alimony, and compensation-related cases, Tunç stated in a televised interview on Aug. 31.

Permanent alimony not fair: Justice minister

Turkish Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ has said that he finds permanent alimony "not fair," while answering a question about the duration limit of paying alimony decided for divorce cases.

"Couple marries for a month. The alimony is paid lifelong. I find this wrong. Permanent alimony is not fair," Bpzdağ said in a TV interview on late April 12.

Notaries will not attend home auctions on Wednesday

The coordinating committing of the Greek union of notaries on Tuesday announced its members would not be taking part in home auctions initiated by the Greek state, banks, pension funds and municipalities on Wednesday.

However, certain auctions could go ahead if permission was applied for by notaries, including those aimed at collecting unpaid wages or alimony, for instance.
