Acrimony over uniformed recruitments in ambulance crews
Health professionals are protesting a government decision to use uniformed personnel in the transport of patients in island and mountainous areas which have ambulance staff shortages.
The decision, they say, will compromise safety protocols as ambulance crews must have special training and certification.
Czech tourist dies on Thasos beach
A Czech tourist has died after collapsing on a beach on the northern Aegean island of Thasos, with eyewitnesses saying that it took 51 minutes for an ambulance to reach the scene.
The woman, who was aged between 45 and 50, is understood to have collapsed shortly after emerging from swim at Astrida beach, in the southern part of the island.

Bulgaria: Mass Fight in the Sofia district of "Lyulin", 3 People were Seriously Injured - 1 has an Amputated Leg
A mass fight took place around 9:00 p.m. in the capital's "Lyulin" 2 district.
According to the National Radio, more than 20 people were involved in the incident. The mass fight took place in the area of block 204 and was provoked by an accident.
Many police patrols and emergency teams arrived at the scene.
Northern town mayor dies in car accident
The mayor of the town of Doxato in Drama, northern Greece, died in a car crash on Saturday morning.
The accident occurred on the provincial road between Drama and Amphipoli, when the car of 70-year-old Themis Zekeridis, for reasons unknown, collided with the protective barrier on the road.

Six people were injured, with four in serious condition, following a traffic accident involving two vehicles that took place on Monday morning in the northern Athens suburb of Kifissia. The accident occurred at the intersection of Kifissias Avenue and Diligianni Street.

Deadly bus crash with truck kills 14, injures 25 in Egypt
A passenger bus has slammed into a slowly moving truck on a highway in southwestern Egypt, killing at least 14 people, officials and local media say.
The crash took place late Wednesday in the New Valley province, according to its governor, Mohamed el-Zamout. Twenty-five others were injured, he added in a statement.
