Two Virginia television journalists fatally shot in on-air attack

Two television journalists were shot and killed in Virginia on Aug. 26 morning while conducting a live television interview, the station said. 

The incident occurred at about 6:45 a.m. EDT (1045 GMT)  during a live broadcast in Bedford County, when shots could be heard, sending the reporter and the person she was interviewing  screaming and ducking for cover.

Two people working on a live TV broadcast were killed on Wednesday morning at the Bridgewater Plaza near Smith Mountain Lake in Franklin County, Virginia, according to the TV channel WDBJ TV’s website.

WDBJ7’s photographer Adam Ward and reporter Alison Parker were killed in the incident, their station reported. Ward was 27 years old. Parker just turned 24.
