PM unveils 4.2-billion-euro program of projects for Central Greece
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday presented a program of 540 projects with a budget of 4.2 billion euros for the region of Central Greece, including key motorway and rail upgrades.
Knife, cellphones seized at Amfissa Prison
A search on Monday afternoon in a cell and a communal area of the Amfissa Detention Centre, in central Greece, turned up a makeshift knife with a 8.3-centimetre blade, as well as cellphones and bootleg alcohol.
Prison guards six cellphones and seven chargers, 11 hands-free and six little of illicit alcohol.
The prison informed police and a prosecutor about the finds.

Body found inside burned car in central Greece
Firemen trying to extinguish a car blaze on the Amfissa-Prosilio highway in central Greece found a body inside, according to a press release by the fire service on Tuesday.
Authorities have not yet identified the victim and no details were available as to the cause of the fire.

Man arrested in central Greece for raping daughter
A local community in the Fokida region in central Greece was reeling on Friday after the revelation that a mentally disabled 16-year-old was impregnated by her father.
According to reports, the girl, who lives with her family in Itea, was found to be pregnant after she was rushed to a hospital in the town of Amfissa suffering from stomach pains.

Charming museum in Chrisso showcases history and tradition

Roma girl's killer transferred to Korydallos jail
The 34-year-old butcher who turned himself in on Monday for the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old Roma girl last week in Amfissa, central Greece, was transferred to the Korydallos maximum-security prison in Athens Thursday pending trial.
The unnamed man drove out to a Roma camp near Amfissa on June 4 and shot the 13-year-old, who was standing beside his intended victim.

Shepherd accused of killing Roma girl placed under tight security
Police in the central Greek town of Amfissa have beefed up security amid fears of reprisals around a 34-year-old shepherd who reportedly turned himself into the police on Monday night in connection with the shooting death last week of a 13-year-old Roma girl.

Farmers split Greece right down the middle
Farmers from central Greece decided to toughen their stance and are already on their way to Athens-Lamia motorway in order to close the road at the 200km at Bralos interchange.
Seventy tractors are already at the spot and have closed the entrances and exits to the motorway blocking the traffic to all vehicles to and from Bralos and Amfissa.
