The $500 apple: Woman Fined For Failing to Declare Fruit She Was Given on Flight
A woman from Colorado has been fined $500 (£360) after failing to declare an apple that she took from a transatlantic flight.
Crystal Tadlock was given the fruit sealed in a wrapper on her Delta flight from Paris to Minneapolis on 18 April. She did not eat it on the journey and decided to save it for her connecting flight to Denver.
Myanmar pardons 8,500 prisoners
Myanmar's president announced on April 17 pardons for more than 8,500 prisoners, including three dozen jailed in political cases, as part of an annual amnesty marking the country's traditional new year.

US deplores Turkey’s re-arrest of Amnesty International official
The United States said on Feb. 7 it was “deeply troubled” by Turkey’s re-arrest of the chairman of the local arm of Amnesty International, and called on its NATO ally to end its state of emergency and safeguard the rule of law.
Macedonia Eases Pressure on Jails
The law, which passed in parliament late Monday, pardons all convicts serving jail sentences of less than six months, about 670 of them.
The law also cuts the jail terms of some 3,100 prisoners serving for less than five years by 30 per cent.

Macedonian President Fully Reverses Amnesty in Wiretapping Affair
Macedonia's President Gjorge Ivanov has scrapped an amnesty granted in April on politicians involved in a massive wiretapping affair.

Amnesty International Greece accuses Greek authorities of blocking them from accessing refugee camps
The head of Amnesty International Greece, George Kosmopoulos accused the Greek authorities of denying the organisation access to the refugee reception centers and hot spots. Kosmopoulos said he had repeatedly contacted both the Ministry of Defence and Immigration but he was unable to cut through the red tape.

PM Ponta: We will vote on Tuesday for definitive rejection of amnesty law
Prime Minister Victor Ponta announced on Monday that the Social Democrat Party (PSD) will vote on Tuesday in Parliament for the definitive rejection of the amnesty and pardon law and for the approval of the requests to lift the immunity of MPs under criminal investigation.
