Mike Pompeo likely to join Greece-Cyprus-Israel summit, says US envoy

A day after energy giant ExxonMobil announced it had discovered a natural gas reservoir in Cyprus's Block 10, US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt said US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is likely to participate in the next trilateral summit between Greece, Cyprus and Israel which will be held in March in Israel.

The European Cultural Center of Delphi presents "Man and His Image," a group show organized by Platon Rivellis in which 67 photographers who took part in a seminar run by the curator last spring explore the inevitable presence of the self in the act of choosing the theme/subject of a photograph. The show opens at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, and runs through November 18.

Archaeologists voice alarm over Artemis Agrotera temple in Athens

Greek archaeologists expressed their concern on Monday over the abandonment by the state of the site of the mid-5th century BC Temple of Artemis Agrotera, which they described as "one of the most historically important archaeological sites in the center of Athens."

The Ionic-style temple, dedicated to the Greek virgin goddess of the hunt was constructed of Pentelic marble.

Homer Odyssey: Oldest Extract Discovered on Clay Tablet

BBC - A clay tablet discovered during an archaeological dig may be the oldest written record of Homer's epic tale, the Odyssey, ever found in Greece, the country's culture ministry has said.

Found near the ruined Temple of Zeus in the ancient city of Olympia, the tablet has been dated to Roman times.

Archaeologists in Greece have discovered what they believe to be the oldest known extract of Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey."

A team of Greek and German researchers found it on an engraved clay plaque in Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games in the Peloponnese peninsula, the Greek culture ministry said on Tuesday.

Aeschylus' "Agamemnon" takes center stage next weekend at the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus as part of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival. Plotting, unfortunate fates and morality loom large in the first play of the "Oresteia" trilogy, which focuses on the return of Agamemnon to his kingdom and family. The play will be in Greek with English surtitles. Both performances begin at 9 p.m.
