Naval officers show off trireme Olympias
A fully functional replica of a 5th century BC Athenian trireme, the "Olympias," is seen in the Saronic Gulf off the southern coast of Athens during an inspection on Friday of the Hellenic Navy fleet by Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, Defense Minister Evangelos Apostolakis and other senior officials.

Chinese doctors take Hippocratic Oath on Kos
Chinese doctors recently participated in a ceremony that revived the Hippocratic Oath in its birthplace, the Asclepeion archaeological site on the Greek island of Kos, where Hippocrates (460-370 BC), the ancient Greek father of Western medicine, lived and practiced, the International Health Tourism Center (IHTC) announced on Wednesday.

Ancient trireme open to public
The Olympias, a reconstruction of a 5th century BC Athenian trireme, anchored at the Zea Marina in Piraeus port Thursday for the fifth straight year as part of the Sea Days 2019 initiative to raise public awareness on the marine environment.
The ship, belonging to the Hellenic Navy, was welcomed Thursday by Piraeus Mayor Yiannis Moralis.

Egypt Unveils Ancient Tomb and Sarcophagi in Luxor
Egypt on Saturday unveiled an ancient tomb, sarcophagi and funerary artifacts discovered in the Theban necropolis of Al-Assasif in the southern city of Luxor, reports AFP.
In a ceremony in front of the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Antiquities Minister Khaled al-Anani announced that French and Egyptian archaeologists had discovered "a new tomb... with very nice paintings".

Lessons of War | Athens | To December 18
In "Lessons of War" writer Yiannis Lignadis and director Dimitris Lignadis attempt to hone in on the essence of the tragedy of war with an original dramatization of excerpts from the first five books of Thucydides' "History of the Peloponnesian War." Performances take place at the Athens Concert Hall on November 13, 20 and 27, and December 3, 11 and 18, starting at 9 p.m.
