Turkey reiterates Google should comply with obligations

Turkey's competition authority on Dec. 17 reiterated that Google should "completely" comply with the Turkish law as it has done in other countries.

In September 2018, Turkey's competition board fined Google 93 million Turkish liras ($15 million) for violating competition law related to the offering of Android, its mobile operation system, as well as mobile apps and services.

Huawei Introduced its Own Harmony Operating System

On Friday, Huawei unveiled its new Linux-based operating system, Harmony OS. The move comes after the Chinese tech giant was placed in May in the so-called. a "blacklist" of the United States, which threatens permission in the future to continue to use Google's Android operating system on its smartphones.

Huawei's own Harmony OS will be open source.

EU slaps tech giant with EUR 1.49 billion fine

This is the third fine for the US company in the past two years, Reuters is reporting.

Last year, EU regulators penalized Google with a record EUR 4.34 billion because the company used its Android operating system to block rivals.
This came after a fine of EUR 2.42 billion imposed on the company in 2017 for abusing its dominant market position.
