Bulgaria Ready to Help North Macedonia with Vaccines

The Bulgarian government adopted a decision to explore the possibilities for providing COVID-19 vaccines for Western Balkan countries and the Eastern Partnership members.

This will happen after the Bulgarian needs are met, in compliance with the relevant countries' legislation and the terms of the preliminary agreements concluded between the EC and the manufacturers of medicines.

Bulgaria Bans Flights To and From UK

Bulgaria has banned foreigners arriving from the UK until January 31st. The new order of the Minister of Health came into force at midnight. The reason is the newly discovered strain of coronavirus in the UK.

The decision was made late last night after an extraordinary meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.

New Order in Bulgaria: 10-Day Quarantine for All Arrivals from UK and Northern Ireland

New restrictive measures are introduced to all persons entering the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

With his Order, the Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov imposed a mandatory 10-day quarantine on all persons, including Bulgarian citizens arriving from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Anti-Epidemic Measures in Bulgaria Will be Extended till 31 January 2021

The current anti-epidemic measures which were introduced on 27 November 2020 to apply till 31 January 2021, proposed the National Operative Staff and Health Minister Kostadin Angelov after the meeting with Premier Boyko Borissov.

Exceptions will be made for students from 1st to 4th grade, kindergartens and dining areas in hotels.

Bulgarian Health Minister: I Insist Restrictions Remain in Force after 21 December

"It is too early to talk about loosening the restrictive measures. We will make a detailed analysis, and then we will be able to decide - which measures are to be relaxed, if at all. As health minister, I will insist that the measures remain the same after 21 December, because every single human life is important," stated Health Minister Prof .

"The clinical situation in Europe is quite complicated. The 14-day morbidity is 554 per 100,000 population. We are in 9th place in the EU on this indicator. According to this indicator, Bulgaria ranks 3rd in the Balkans. This was stated during the weekly briefing of the health authorities by Prof. Todor Kantardzhiev.

"Bulgaria's national vaccination plan has been developed by a working group together with specialists. WHO guidelines and Member States' plans have been used. It is compliant with the Bulgarian healthcare. It is dynamic and consistent with the situation ", announced the Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov.

Phases for vaccination of Bulgarian citizens have been developed.

Bulgaria Adopted National Pandemic Preparedness Plan

Bulgaria's Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov, the Chairman of the National Task force against the spread of coronavirus, Major General Dr. Ventsislav Mutafchyiski and the Executive Director of Pirogov emergency hospital Prof. Asen Baltov presented the national plan of Bulgaria for pandemic preparedness, which was adopted at the weekly government meeting on December 2.

PM Borissov: First Anti-Covid Pfizer Vaccines Arrive in Bulgaria by End 2020

 

The first Covid-19 vaccines to come to Bulgaria will be those of Pfizer/BioNTECH, and the first shipments are expected as early as the end of 2020.

This became clear during today's working meeting with cabinet members convened by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.

In the past week, more than 12,000 people have recovered from Covid-19.
