Germany has the Highest Number of New Infections Since Beginning of the Pandemic

Over the past 24 hours, 39,676 new cases of coronavirus infection were registered in Germany, which is the largest daily increase since the beginning of the pandemic. This was announced early this morning by the Robert Koch Institute for the Control of Infectious Diseases, DPA reported.

The previous peak of 37,120 was established on Friday, and a week earlier the figure was 20,398.

For the third day in a row, more than 40,000 new infections with COVID-19 have been registered in Russia, TACC reports, explaining that 40,735 coronavirus infections have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours. Thus, the total number of cases reaches 8,714,595, the Federal Operational Headquarters for Combating the New Infection announced.

Dramatic Increase in COVID-19 Infection in Balkan Countries

Countries in the region still see a dramatic increase in the number of new coronavirus infections. With the exception of an increase in the number of new coronaviruses in Slovenia and Croatia, the worst situation on Wednesday is in Romania, where there are almost 15,000 new infections and 512 deaths registered in one day, Belgrade's Politika writes.

Coronavirus Mu Variant Has Not Been Detected in Bulgaria as Yet

Currently, the Delta version of the coronavirus is dominant in Bulgaria,told BGNES virologist Prof. Radka Argirova.

She pointed out that so far the "Mu" strain has not been detected in our country, and according to the classification of the European Bureau of the World Health Organization in Europe, it is still sporadically found in travelers.
