Several ceremonies and colorful celebrations have been held across the country to mark the National Sovereignty and Children's Day on April 23, the creation of the Turkish parliament.

The 1935 model Cadillac automobile, used by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Türkiye, and exhibited in Anıtkabir for years, has been restored after five years of work.

Citizens in many parts of the country, especially in Istanbul, the capital Ankara and western province of İzmir, have welcomed the new year with various events, while a group of people in the southern province of Antalya celebrated the arrival of the new year by entering the sea at a temperature of 10 degrees.

Türkiye has celebrated the 99th anniversary of Republic Day with various ceremonies across the country.

Celebrations began with thousands' visit to Anıtkabir, the mausoleum of Turkish Republic founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, in the capital Ankara.

Internationally acclaimed French pianist Simon Ghraichy has expressed his admiration for the renovated CSO ADA Ankara concert complex in the Turkish capital.

"When I visited, I felt like a little child opening his toy, his Christmas gift. Everything smells new. This is such a privilege for me to be playing in such a beautiful place," Ghraichy said.

Art lovers gathered for a "Season of Silver" art exhibition held in the Turkish capital Ankara on Wednesday to enjoy a Guatemalan artist's different perspectives on Turkish Lira banknotes.
