Russian leader attends memorial for assassinated envoy Karlov

Senior Russian leaders attended a memorial for Andrey Karlov, Russia's assassinated ambassador to Turkey, at the country's Foreign Ministry in Moscow on Dec. 22.
        
Karlov's family, President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and ministry staff all attended the event.

Russian envoy's assassin related to 'FETÖ': President Erdoğan

The assassin of Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov was related to a movement led by U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan claimed late on Dec. 21.
 
"Where he grew up and all connections reveal connections to FETÖ [the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization] membership."  
   

World condemns bomb attack in Turkey's Kayseri

World leaders and other members of the international community have expressed their condolences and condemnation following the Dec. 17 car bomb attack in the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri which killed 14 soldiers and wounded 56 others.

The United States condemned the "cowardly attack," showing solidarity with the country against terror.

Turkey commemorates Atatürk on 78th anniversary of his passing

Turkey is commemorating the 78th anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the modern Republic of Turkey, on Nov. 10.

Thousands of people flocked to Anıtkabir, Atatürk's mausoleum in the capital Ankara, while local municipalities throughout the country also prepared day-long commemoration events.
